A FOUR-TRY performance from Orange City flanker Feleti Wolfgramm led the Lions to a dominant 64-0 victory over Dubbo Rhinos at Caltex Park on Saturday, extending the side's season opening unbeaten run to three games.
The Rhinos, playing their first home game in the Blowes Clothing Cup since returning to the competition, showed plenty of fight and pushed the Lions in the opening period to only trail 19-0 at half-time, but tired dramatically in the second stanza.
Orange City piled on another seven tries in that second half, three of which Wolfgramm scored - he's now scored eight tries in three games after doubles in the opening two rounds.
"He's pretty handy," Hamson smiled.
"To his credit in the off-season he's done a lot of fitness and you can see he really wants to be there. He's been our best player over the first three rounds by a country mile.
"You've got to pay the Rhinos the respect they're due, they're back in Blowes for a reason and I think maybe the speed and certainly the fitness was the telling points today."
Dubbo Rhinos co-coach Dave Stuart admitted the visitors were a class above but was still pleased with the effort of his side, but conceded his side has been blown away by the pace of the competition compared to the GrainCorp Cup.
"They kept putting in ... it's a big step up," he said.
"Fitness showed at the end."
Jake Davis, under an injury cloud going into the game, opened the scoring, but missed the conversion, before slotting his next chance from Logan Brockmann's try to see the Lions lead 12-0 early.
Ricky Wetherall was dangerous for Rhinos while Corey Cox and Sam McLeod were strong after coming on midway through the half, but the Lions never seriously faltered.
Wolfgramm's first of the day set up the 19-0 lead at the break and the big number six grabbed his second shortly after play resumed.
Joey Lasagavibau enjoyed another strong game, scoring shortly after Wolfgramm but found himself in the bin alongside Rhinos prop Neil Madden after a scuffle.
While they were off Rhinos enjoyed a lengthy stint of possession, only to see the Lions go the length of the field when they turned the ball over, with Wolfgramm crossing for his third.
Brockmann, skipper John Colgan, Wolfgramm and then Blake Hummerson all crossed to help City well and truly seal a convincing bonus point win.
Wolfgramm picked up his fourth nearing full-time, while Brockmann grabbed another and skipper John Colgan and Blake Hummerston also scored as well.
