WHILE their under-16 counterparts triumphed one ground over at Jack Brabham Park, Orange District Junior Cricket Association fell at the final hurdle of the Mitchell Cricket Council under-12 competition.
Orange lost out to Bathurst in the under-12 decider at Jack Brabham (2) on Sunday, which was the first of two victories for the latter association on the day. Bathurst also claimed the under-14 title over Lithgow.
In almost identical circumstances to the final round game a fortnight ago, Bathurst’s bowling attack was the difference.
In the final game two weeks ago Orange was rolled for just 55, and they only managed a handful more on Sunday as Tom Siede and Declan Fawkner rolled through the black and golds, taking four and two wickets respectively.
In reply it didn’t take long for Bathurst to pass the total and claim victory, their third title in the past four seasons.
Cooper Brien was the chief destroyer for Bathurst with the bat, finishing 32 not out, while Fawkner scored 12 not out at the end to see the side home.
