She has been shouting about her engagement to billionaire James Packer from the rooftops and flashing her 35-carat diamond ring any chance she gets, but Mariah Carey has yet to discuss her pending nuptials with her two children.
The Hero singer told E! News that twins Monroe and Moroccan, 4, are "too young" to understand that the Australian casino mogul will become their stepfather.
"I haven't talked to them about it completely because they are so young so they don't really understand things yet so you have to go slowly and explain things and always make sure they know that this is only going to be good for them," she said. "Their lives are not going to change.
"For me, as long as we are together and they have a great relationship with their dad, then that's great. It's good. And they are great," she added.
Carey married Nick Cannon in 2008 and they announced their split six years later in August 2014. The pair remain on good terms with Cannon even taking to Instagram to congratulate the couple.
"Congrats to @MariahCarey and James! May God Bless Your Future Union...#GreatPeople #GreatCouple," he wrote.
Packer and Carey first went public with their relationship when they sailed around the Italian islands of Portofino and Capri in June 2015 on board his super yacht the Arctic P.
He popped the question in January over dinner surrounded by close family and friends.
"It's so heavy I can't lift my arm up!" Carey joked to E! News when asked about the sparkler designed by Wilfredo Rosado.
It's be third time lucky for both Packer and Carey. She wed Tommy Mottola in 1993, and Cannon in 2008, while he married Jodhi Meares in 1999 and Erica Baxter in 2007.
