That was after she drove from the CBD to her home in Hughes Street, in north Orange.
Kayla Doyle appeared in Orange Local Court on Monday charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol.
A witness told police that at about 2.30am on October 25, 2015, Doyle was driving so erratically that her car veered into another lane, and almost ran into the witness’s vehicle.
The witness then saw Doyle’s car hit the kerb of a roundabout and then mount the roundabout and drove through the centre of it.
Further down the road Doyle’s car mounted a median strip and the witness phoned police.
The witness followed Doyle home where she “completely misjudged” the driveway, turned the car around and nearly ran into the witness.
Police facts said officers knocked on Doyle’s front door and said the 26-year-old woman could barely keep her balance.
She was asked to do a sobriety test by walking in a straight line for five metres, but she failed.
Doyle’s solicitor Mason Manwaring said his client needed her licence to work as a nurse and to travel to Bathurst to complete her studies.
“She pleaded guilty at the first available opportunity,” he said.
“Something occurred that night and she had to drive home with her housemate.”
He asked the magistrate, Terry Lucas, to consider imposing the minimum disqualification period.
“She appreciates there are aggravating factors,” he said.
Mr Lucas fined her $1200 and disqualified her from driving for nine months.
“You are quite lucky you didn’t kill yourself or your passenger,” he said.
“You should not have driven, you could barely stand up.”
