This season will involve a more diverse range of music, with a new conductor in Orange Male Voice Choir’s Leon Paix.
“Spring is here and so is the brass band in Cook Park,” band member John Moss said.
“And Leon Paix is well known in Orange music circles as the Orange Male Voice Choir leader.”
The broader range of music includes classical overtures and humourous pieces to popular music and music people will recognise from the movie Blast Off.
The performances, have been played in the park rotunda for several years now and Mr Moss said he’s pleased the tradition can continue.
“Each year the performances are getting more popular,” he said.
He said the members of the band range in age from seven to people in their 70s.
“The band has a whole range of levels of musicianship, ranging from beginners to accomplished soloists,” he said.
“We’re just a community band who like to have fun and entertain the public by performing throughout the region.”
The free recital sessions commence this Sunday, then on November 15, December 13, February 14, April 10 and finish up on May 1.
The concert band usually plays from 11.30am to 12.30pm with the full brass band performing from 1pm.
