Ms Marr said the CWA was pleased Orange City Council had approved a plan that allowed disability access to the hall and the inclusion of a disability toilet inside the hall as well as one outside with two public toilets.
The CWA Hall currently has limited disability access and no disability toilet.
“This plan is a win for the community, a win for council and a win for us,” Ms Marr said.
“I think it will provide an important amenity for travellers and in due course it will allow the CWA Hall to be open to the community allowing better access, particularly for people in wheelchairs.”
Councillor Scott Munro said he welcomed the approval of a plan that would include an upgrade of the CWA Hall.
“It’s been well overdue but it’s a great outcome,” he said.
Cr Munro said he hoped the construction of a toilet facility would signal a revitalisation of Robertson Park.
“I think it will mean there’s more opportunities for buses to stop in McNamara Street so people can visit the new museum and picnic in the park,” he said.
Cr Munro said he’d be pushing for the facility to be built as quickly as possible.
“I’d like to see it built before Anzac Day next year,” he said.
