Stewart Sharpe and Toni-Maree Thomas are lining up to get married after Stewart proposed to Toni-Maree on Saturday night.
This was no cliched flowers over dinner proposal, Mr Sharpe decided to propose at the same place as their first date.
“We went to Orange Tenpin Bowl on our first date because Toni-Maree had told me that she had been a league bowler,” he said.
“We played in lane seven so I wanted that lane to propose in.”
Bowled over by his style, Ms Thomas just had to say yes.
“I was shocked,” she said.
“I really didn’t expect for that to happen.”
Like all couples, the pair have their differences, one is their individual bowling styles.
“Toni-Maree is a straight up one-hander,” Mr Sharpe said.
“But I use two hands right up until the moment I release.”
The one-handed technique though seems to have the advantage with Ms Thomas’ average being greater than Mr Sharpe’s.
“I usually get around 130 while Toni-Maree gets around 150-160, and often scores 200 plus,” he said.
To bring him up to speed, Mr Sharpe has just acquired some bowling gear of his own.
“He’s now got his own ball,” Ms Thomas said.
Quizzed as to whether or not the fetching tenpin bowling shoes would be part of the wedding outfits, Ms Thomas was resolute.
“We won’t be wearing the shoes at our wedding,” she said.
