UPWARD of 700 punters turned out to watch Orange star Sam Ah-See do battle for the Australian super welterweight title at Orange Function Centre last year, and No Limit Management’s Matt Rose expects a similar number at tomorrow night’s Orange Friday Fight Night.

The Orange southpaw takes on Arnel Tinampay in a rematch - the two fought in Dubbo in 2013 - tomorrow night, also at the function centre, one of few professional fights Orange has had in recent memory.
Mr Rose said with the majority of tickets already sold the community has once again thrown its support behind his fighter, and he implored anyone interested in watching to get in quick or risk missing out on tickets.
“The VIP ringside tickets have all but sold out, but we do still have some general seating and general tickets left,” Mr Rose said.
“Tickets are affordable for everyone, so we’re hoping we sell plenty more in the next day or so. You can look anywhere at fights, most tickets start at about $40, we start at $25.
“I think the crowd will be down a bit, but that’s more because of the short notice than this one not being a title fight I think.
“In hindsight we realise we probably needed a couple more weeks to promote it, but we’re still expecting a cracker of a night. The bar will be running, and everything like that is the same as last year.”
Mr Rose said it isn’t just a chance for punters “to see some of the best boxing we’ll see in the country”, it’s also a chance for the wider community to engage with Ah-See himself.
“He’s a young indigenous kid making a life for himself, he’s a role model, and it’s a way for people all communities to see it doesn’t matter where you come from, if you’re dedicated and willing you can do anything,” Mr Rose said.
“The Orange community can get behind the other guys fighting as well ... in addition to Sam’s bout, former NRL player and heavyweight boxer Solomon Haumono will headline the undercard, as well as ... Orange CYMS forward Simon Osborne.”
Tickets remain on sale at Pump It Fitness and WIN Television. Please contact Matt Rose for VIP ringside tables on 0403 595 453.
