I WAS proud day to be an Australian on Anzac Day and a member of our local community.

I attended the dawn service in Orange (I have attended on two previous occasions but I was at the time being paid for my attendance in a previous life in the police force), and what an amazing turnout.
Congratulations to thousands of people who attended this special event to say thanks to all those who have served and are still serving our wonderful country.
I cannot recall the CBD as busy without sunlight.
As a parent Deb and I are extra proud that our kids Megan and Matty Whiley (now very much adults), who have never thought about attending a dawn service previously, made a huge effort to attend as well, something we have never done as a family. The Anzac spirit is well and truly alive!
I would also like to thank the city of Orange for a new cenotaph. It is magnificent and a true monument for our city to treasure.
Thank-you to all who serve and have served this (still) great nation of Australia.
Shane Whiley,
Orange
