Run by the Southern Cross Street Cruisers Car Club, the swap meet was started in 2005 with proceeds going to charity.
Club president George Georgiou said in the last few years the swap meet has filled about 150 six by six metre sites and the car, bike and truck show was likely to fill a similar number of sites with owners of 20 large semi-trailers already expressing an interest.
“We do a fundraiser each year and for the last nine years it has been for Ronald McDonald House and this year we want to give money to a few other charities, we are giving to the RSPCA, Street Swag and Beyond Blue,” Mr Georgiou said.
“[The amount] depends on the weather and the number of people that come through the gates, the best was $2500 and the worst was a rainy day and was about $800.”
The swap meet will include items from car and bike parts through to clothing, furniture, antiques and toys. It will be a family-friendly event, the site will be alcohol free all weekend, there will be a jumping castle for kids and food on display.
Gates open at noon Saturday for swap sites only and again at 5am Sunday with pre-booking not required and sites are $20. Gates open to the public at 6am Sunday and entry is $2 per person.
