The man, whose body was discover by someone jogging in the area at around 6am, had a small laceration to the side of his head.
Canobolas Local Area Command duty officer Bruce Grassick said the man had been at a party at a private residence on Saturday night and had last been seen at around 1am on Sunday.
"The man may have been intoxicated when he left the residence," inspector Grassick said.
Inspector Grassick said police were investigating a number of scenarios, including that the man may have died as a result of misadventure.
"No offence has been detected at this time," he said.
"A post-mortem will be completed and a brief is being prepared for the coroner."
Police want anyone who may have seen the man in the National Avenue or Sale Street area between 1am and 6am to contact them on 63636399 or call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
