A club event will be held at Lake Canobolas on Sunday before athletes return next Saturday for the Elite Energy Triseries.
This is the third time the Elite Energy event has come to Orange and will attract athletes from around the state.
Orange triathletes could be serious threats, though.
Judy Tarleton will line up in the Olympic distance event, which includes a 1.5km swim, a 40km ride and 10km run.
The 65-year-old has a simple goal for the February 7 race.
“I want to do better than last year,” she smiled.
“Last year was terrible. My run was awful.”
She’ll use Sunday's club event as preparation for the Elite Energy race.
“I treat the local ones more as training,” she explained.
“I try to do as well as last time or do better.”
Teenager Kinisha Roweth will miss Sunday's club event but is looking forward to testing herself over the sprint distance at the Elite Energy festival.
The 15-year-old will complete a 750m swim, 20km ride and 5km run and is hoping to stop the clock in around one hour and 10 minutes.
She’s happy the event is back in Orange.
“It’s good at home because there’s lots of support and you know the course,” she said.
Sunday's club event at Lake Canobolas will start with registrations from 8am.
The midgets (50m swim, 600m ride, 400m run) will then head off at 8.30am, followed by the juniors (80m, 2km, 800m) at 8.45am.
The senior events will be run at 9.30am including the short internal (150m, 5km, 1km), short external (150m, 6km, 1km), mid (150m, 10km, 2.5km), long (400m, 20km, 5km) and sprint (750m, 20km, 5km) races.
