More than 200 offers were made to study at the Orange campus to-date, 87 of them in the main round through the NSW University Admissions Centre last night.

Of those, 107 were offered a place in physiotherapy, 35 in clinical science, 37 in dental science and 26 in pharmacy. 

The number of offers remain steady on previous years, with dentistry slightly higher.

Vice-Chancellor Professor Andrew Vann congratulated students who received an offer and said the number of offers in physiotherapy reflected demand.

“Sometimes there are really strong applications in a discipline,” he said.

Professor Vann said discussions concerning the development of the campus had not concluded yet.

“But we are always interested, if there are things people want to study, we are keen to look at it,” he said.

University-wide, the most popular subjects include nursing, education, paramedics, medical radiation and criminal justice.

In total 1216 undergraduate, on-campus students were due to receive offers to study at CSU last night.

An additional 3478 students had already received an offer, with 6950 students issued an offer to study via distance education.

With 2014 dominated by discussion about possible changes to university funding, Professor Vann hoped the level of enrolments this year would equal last year. 

“At the moment, we think it’ll be on par with last year, but it’s certainly not helpful to have the uncertainty hanging over people’s heads,” he said.

However, he welcomed statements from Education Minister Christopher Pyne yesterday indicating he would be willing to reduce the level of government funding cuts.

Professor Vann said students had further opportunities to enrol if they were unsuccessful in the main round.

“If they don’t get an offer, they should contact the university because there may be other pathways,” he said.
