This week’s incident, which was reported in yesterday’s Central Western Daily, was the second time Mrs Jones had been assaulted, with the offenders believed to be teenage boys.
Police said was important for people to speak out about all crimes against women, including this kind of indecent assault.
Orange police domestic violence liaison officer Granton Smith said thankfully incidents such as this were rare, however, what happened to Mrs Jones was unacceptable.
“I think this women has a reasonable expectation that she should be able to jog through the streets safely,” he said.
Senior Constable Smith said it was important for both men and women to speak out about violence against women.
Canobolas Local Area Command Inspector Bruce Grassick said the offence was unusual.
“These type of offences are rarely reported to us, but it’s important that they are,” he said.
Inspector Grassick said police were concerned about what happened to Mrs Jones, however, her attacks appeared to be random.
“While the incidents appear to be isolated events, we’d encourage any members of the public to contact police if they are involved in a similar incident,” he said.
