Thieves targeted Kiara White’s Windradyne home early last Sunday morning by kicking in her front door and helping themselves to presents under the tree, as well as cash and jewellery.
The thieves unwrapped the presents, many of them were for Ms White’s three-year-old daughter Angel and four-year-old son B-Jay, and left the wrapping paper behind, taking what they wanted.
Miss Woodward, who has two daughters, two-year-old Lily and Ivy who is eight months old, said when she read Ms White’s story in the Central Western Daily it touched her heart, however she didn’t count on the generosity of others to follow her lead.
She said at least eight other Orange families had offered to donate presents and she planned to travel to Bathurst and deliver the donated gifts herself.
“It made me really upset when I heard what had happened,” she said.
“Christmas is about giving and I couldn’t watch my kids open their presents which I’ve worked hard to get them, knowing another mother who has worked just as hard has nothing to give her children.”
Miss Woodward said she spoke to Ms White who said she was “grateful” for the generosity shown by well-wishers.
