Mrs Hyde won a $6000 shopping voucher at Harvey Norman after shopping at the Complete Garden.
“I was very excited, I remember they entered me but I didn’t even give it a second thought,” she said.
Although she is not sure how she will spend her prizemoney she already had a few ideas and is planning a family shopping trip.
“I saw a canvas up there last weekend. I don’t know, I might buy another lounge,” she said.
The Christmas promotion, run by the Central Western Daily and Harvey Norman, had about 20 participating businesses and attracted thousands of entries.
Throughout December, winners were also drawn to receive gift vouchers to participating businesses.
The promotion was held to encourage more people to shop locally.
“I think you need to shop locally, you have to keep the money in town as much as possible. I’m happy to support local businesses as much as I can,” Mrs Hyde said.
Harvey Norman franchisee Wally Martyr was pleased a local person won the main prize and that so many people had shopped locally to be in the draw.
“It’s important, it supports local businesses, money stays in Orange, it’s a community thing,” he said.
“We were actively involved in it, we believe it’s an important thing and we are happy to be a part of it with the CWD.”
