The car had been left in a no stopping zone for at least two weeks.
Council spokesman Nick Redmond said while council wouldn’t talk specifically about the car in Clinton Street, it was illegal to park an unregistered car on a public street.
He said when Council received a complaint about an unregistered car parked on the street, the council attempted to contact the owner.
“If there are no plates, the council will write to residents in the area giving the owner one week to remove the car,” he said.
“If no action is taken the council can impound the car and it will then cost the owner $218 to retrieve their car again.
“If no one comes forward to claim the car, it will be advertised for sale and sold.
“In cases where number plates have been removed and it’s not possible to immediately identify the owner, the council will seek assistance from NSW Police to identify the owner.
