Mr Corby said he had been out for the evening and when he was getting ready for bed about 11.30pm he heard a car pull up out the front of his house and leave a short time later.
He soon realised seven of his solar candy canes, which were staked into the ground, had been stolen.
“I can’t believe that they didn’t even last a week,” he said.
“You’d think Christmas decorations out the front of your house would be safe.
“I probably won’t replace them.”
Mr Corby said while the lights were relatively inexpensive, that was irrelevant.
“At the end of the day they’re not worth much, but it’s Christmas,” he said.
“I think this is a disgusting sort of thing to do.”
Canobolas Local Area Command Inspector Peter Atkins encouraged anyone who saw suspicious behaviour in their neighbourhood to contact police.
“This is a difficult thing to stop happening, but people just need to be vigilant,” Inspector Atkins said.
He said people who were expecting parcel deliveries and hampers should ensure arrangements have been made to collect the parcel rather than leave them on the doorstep for hours.
