Coming off a last round bye, Pauletto’s Centrals line-up tackles the unbeaten CYMS from today at Wade Park, and with the green and golds boasting a stack of representative talent as well as the premiership credentials to go with it, the red and blacks captain was adamant his side will be in for some tough cricket during this summer’s fourth round.
“It’ll be tough, but we approach every game the same knowing the cricket is going to be tough,” Pauletto said, highlighting batting as a key component of his side’s game that needs work.
It’ll be heavily tested too against Western Zone quick Curtis Free.
“Batting has been a point of our game we’re looking to improve. We say it every week, it comes down to application and digging in,” Pauletto added, with no Nick Dunlop all game and no Maxwell Dodds on week one set to test the club’s depth.
“We can’t afford to worry about individuals though. Curtis is bowling well, but we’ve got to concentrate on what we’re doing.
“Momentum always helps in cricket. Hopefully we can get a win (last night in Royal Hotel Cup) and build on that for Saturday.”
George Olsen has earned a call-up for Centrals, while young all-rounder Nick Duffy comes in for Dodds for today’s action.
Pauletto said if his side is able to apply itself with the bat then its work with the ball should be sound enough to maintain Centrals’ competitive edge with CYMS with strike quick Dan Sandford back for the both weeks of his side’s big two-day clash.
In other ODCA first grade action, Cavaliers travel to KWS Main Oval to play a tough students outfit on home soil.
Orange City has the bye.
