- BEN Foster’s exhibition, Altered Substrate, is on show at The Corner Store Gallery until Sunday. The Melbourne-based street artist’s work utilises bold colours and repetitive geometries. The gallery at 382 Summer Street is open on Thursday, Friday and Sunday from 10am until 4pm, and Saturday from 9am until 4pm.
- CLOSE to 180 works of art will be on display and up for sale at this year’s Wontama Village Art Show and Auction tomorrow afternoon. The show, titled Artists in Residence, will feature the works from 30 elderly artists created throughout the year during their weekly art classes with Bathurst-based artist Dean Mobbs. - JAYES Gallery in Molong is hosting the Sculpture in Spring Festival once again this year. Until December 21, visit the gallery, which has spectacular instalments and a sculpture competition, and workshops throughout the festival, with dates to be announced.
- TAKE a tour through Emmaville Cottage, the rumoured birthplace of Banjo Paterson, on Sunday. The cottage, which stands near the Adventure Playground, is open to visitors every day, but each Sunday, volunteers from the Rotary Club of Orange give a personalised tour from 11am until 1pm. - TWO new exhibitions will be coming to the Orange Regional Gallery tonight. George Gittoes’ I Witness, which presents a chronological journey of the artist’s 40-year career, and Natura Morta, a contemporary re-visitation of the age-old genre of still life featuring a range of artists. The Kedumba Drawing Award will open next Friday. Exhibitions will be on display until early January.
- AGRESTIC Grocer will be bursting at the seams with great live music this weekend. On Saturday, Bathurst’s Smith and Jones will be bringing their country and western sounds to the stage from 12 until 3pm. Orange music scene veteran Pat O’Donnell will be at the cafe and speciality food shop on Sunday from 12pm until 3pm.
- CHRISTMAS is coming to Jayes Gallery in Molong from Saturday. At 11.30am, the exhibition, All I Want For Christmas, will open, followed by a Christmas-themed luncheon at 12pm. Tickets for the luncheon are $35 per person. For more information, contact the gallery on 6366 9093.
- CITY of Orange Brass Band’s next recital at Cook Park’s rotunda is on Sunday. Everybody is welcome to come to the free concert in the park, which begins at 1pm. - CELEBRATE spring in style at the Union Bank Wine Bar and Dining on Sunday. From 3pm, cocktails, wine and music from DJ Wax Rabit will all feature during the Spring Garden Party. Entry is free.
- ABC Central West Radio’s Brooke Daniels will be the guest speaker at Orange Prostate Cancer Support Group’s Christmas meeting on November 24. - ORANGE artist Madeline Young draws on texture, pattern and detail for her latest exhibition, Noise, which will open at The Corner Store Gallery on November 27. The exhibition is based on signal interruption on digital televisions to create colourful and abstract works. Visit the gallery on Thursday and Friday from 11am until 5pm and Saturday and Sunday from 9am until 4pm.
- THE last Orange Day VIEW Club meeting for 2014 will be a Christmas lunch at the Orange Ex-Services’ Club at 11.30am for a noon start on November 28. - LATEST work from Orange photographer Seth Buchanan will be showcased in an eclectic exhibition at Good Eddy, with opening night on November 28 from 7pm. The French Door features film photographs of the Riviera and Provence regions in France’s south, and will be on display in the Lords Place cafe until December 28.
- MOTHER and daughter artists battle it out as Mudgee Underground comes to Orange on November 30. Lorretta and Larissa Blake go brush to brush in the alleyway next to Factory Espresso from 3pm. Come along and watch as the two complete a painting from inception in only 90 minutes. Food and wine will be available for purchase.
