Class mates and friends of 16-year-old Sevanah Lang and her mother Kelly Landers, 39, assembled at the intersection of Euchareena Road and Shades Creek Road to lay flowers at a memorial that had been created at the scene of the car crash.
A Facebook tribute page has been set up to allow Sevanah's friends to share their memories and express their grief.
Among those who visited the memorial were family friends Laura McCumstie and Connie and Michael Beletic, who were devastated by the loss.
The girls who attended school, two grades below Sevanah and were also family friends, found out about the accident the night of the crash and took yesterday off school.
Connie described Sevanah as a "beautiful and caring person".
"She was really bright and happy," said Laura.
Mr Beletic was also deeply saddened by the tragedy.
"I knew them pretty well, we came down to pay tribute and respect," he said.
"I've known (her partner) Matt since I was about 16."
Cabonne mayor Michael Hayes said the Molong community had been devastated by the tragedy.
"To see a local mother and a 16-year-old girl with her whole life ahead of her die in this way is heart-breaking," Cr Hayes said.
"In close-knit communities like ours I am certain many people will know the family and will feel this loss terribly.
"Our thoughts are with the family and friends and also with the Molong Central School community where I'm sure students and their teachers will be supporting each other as they try to come to terms with this tragic loss."
Sevanah, a learner driver, was driving a Ford Laser on Shades Creek Road, Molong, with her 39-year-old mother in the passenger's seat .

Canobolas Local Area Command duty officer Dave Harvey said police were looking for the driver of white Kenworth prime mover towing a green tractor who may have information about the accident.
"Police want to talk to the driver who may have witnessed the accident or been in the vicinity at about the same time," inspector Harvey said.
"Police would just like to get further information from the driver and possibly shine a light on the situation."
Inspector Harvey said police, who were at the accident scene for five hours on Tuesday, were preparing a report for the coroner.
