Orange Airport recorded 40 millimetres between 5am and 4.30pm, almost half the monthly average of 83mm. From 5am to 9am 15mm was recorded, with a further 25mm recorded between 9am and 4.30pm.
Orange SES reported no call-outs from the wild weather, and Telstra Country Wide western NSW general manager Scott Curtin said the Central Western Daily was the only Orange business to be left without a telephone service as a result of Monday's storms.
“No other services in the area were impacted,” Mr Curtin said.”
“A piece of hardware was replaced at the local exchange and services were restored at approximately 1.30pm.”
Bureau of Meteorology forecaster Sarah Chadwick said the rainfall was storm related with a line of storms forming across the central tablelands towards Queensland.
“We are likely to see some possible thunderstorms [on Tuesday],” Ms Chadwick said.
The forecast was for isolated storms Tuesday and a chance of a shower Wednesday morning clearing in the afternoon.
Ms Chadwick said the storms were part of a cold front that would drop temperatures to a minimum of 4 degrees this morning and a maximum of 9 degrees, making it the coldest day since September 18.
Along with clearing weather, temperatures will also return to the teens later in the week.
