While yesterday was the hottest day for the week at a top of 25 degrees, Tuesday’s maximum is predicted to reach a dismal 9 degrees.
Weatherzone meteorologist Ben McBurney said a cold front sweeping the state is to blame for the sharp drop in temperature.
“Spring is a time for change... but it is a pretty sharp cold front coming through eastern parts of NSW,” he said.
“But it will be pretty short-lived with temperatures on the rise again come Wednesday.”
According to Weatherzone, today is predicted to be a top of 18 degrees with thunderstorms predicted and a 90 per cent chance of rain.
Tuesday’s low is expected to be 3 degrees with a 90 per cent chance of rain of about 5-20 millimetres.
By Wednesday, the mercury will drop to 1 degree during the evening and creep up to 10 degrees, but the chance of rain will dramatically decrease to 20 per cent.
Thursday is expected to reach 14 degrees, Friday 16 degrees and Saturday 17 degrees and mostly sunny.
Mr McBurney warned there was a significant chance of frost from Wednesday.
