The ORC’s business manager, Kelly Dent, said while most Orange residents knew about the conservatorium, many did not know where it was or have never had any connection with it.
“ORC Taking It To the Streets is a campaign to encourage our performers and teachers to hold classes and performances outside their usual rehearsal spaces,” she said.
“It’s also an opportunity for Orange residents, going about their normal day, to be pleasantly surprised by music and to come in contact with Orange’s talented instrumentalists and singers.”
Vocal teacher Samantha Bartholomeusz conducted six of the choirs, the Symphonic Choir, Come Together Choir, Little Singers, Crescendo Choir, Caesura Choir and the Chamber Choir, throughout the day.
The ORC plans to stage similar pop-up events throughout the city in the coming weeks.
