Grazing at the Rugby was held in conjunction with the NSW Country Eagles match to showcase Orange’s produce.
Manning PR and Events director Kyle Manning said about 500 people packed into the space prior to the game and returned at the conclusion for music by Indigobell.
“Everyone’s really impressed with having something like this available at a sporting event,” he said. “Being the first year, this part of it will grow.”
Event organiser James Grant said the food and wine component complemented the on-field action.
“We’re very happy to have gotten this support,” he said.
In line with its work with disadvantaged youngsters, 28Hundred owner Greg Wiltshire said the business participated in the event to give young people experience in running a cafe.
“We’ve just launched the cafe at the gym, and it’s important to show them to get involved in the community,” he said.
Beekeeper’s Inn brewer Mark Lockwood said his stall provided the footy staples of beer and pies, if to a little higher standard than the average offering.
“It was really good, really busy before the game - we’re just doing the local thing and flying the flag,” he said.
