The two-week school holidays will commence next week and students are being encouraged to take part in the sporting and cultural programs on offer in the community.
Orange PCYC will be running daily activities including gymnastics, court play, craft workshops and trips to the cinema so parents can be assured that their children are having fun in a safe and supervised environment.
Activity co-ordinator Shaye Moss said the most exciting day will be an excursion to Bathurst.
“The kids will take a tour of Abercrombie House and try out the brand new rock wall at Bathurst PCYC.”
Ms Moss said that with the weather warming up, she hopes to see a greater number of kids come along and take part in activities that a lot of other clubs don’t offer.
“For the children who don’t want to participate in a particular activity during the day, we will be doing a decoupage project on a table and chair set that they can work on,” she said.
“We encourage kids between the ages of kindergarten and grade six to come to the club and make a booking, it only costs $5 to become a club member.”
Cost of the activities are $18 per session or $33 for the entire day. Bookings can be made at the PCYC and more information can be provided on 6360 2249.

The Orange Aquatic Centre staff will also be holding water activities for children from disadvantaged families as part of the Merge holiday program run by Orange City Council satff.
Aquatic centre manager Josh Maley said more and more kids will start coming as the weather warms up.
“They love swimming, playing in the water fountains and eating hot chips.”
To make a booking or for more information call the aquatic centre on 6363 3000.
Music tutor Ken Smith will be teaching kids to put their words to music at the school holiday song writing workshops at the Orange City Library.
Mr Smith teaches ukulele at the Orange Regional Conservatorium and will be holding workshops for children aged eight to 11 years on Wednesday, September 24th and Wednesday, October 1st.
Activity organiser Julie Sykes said the workshops should be great fun.
“Everyone is welcome, but they must make a booking because spots are filling up fast.”
The music and lyric workshops will be held on the two Wednesdays of the holidays at 2-3 pm.

Team members at Bunnings Warehouse will be hosting do-it-your-self (DIY) workshops for children of all ages these school holidays. The workshops will take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays throughout the holiday period and will include a variety of hands-on gardening and craft activities.
Bunnings Warehouse Orange manager Jason Bootsma said the workshops are a great opportunity for kids to get creative and improve their DIY skills.
