ORGANISERS of Camp Quality’s Tractor Trek are warning motorists to be wary of the convoy of 29 tractors that will start their journey around the central west on Thursday.

The annual fundraiser for the charity that supports children living with cancer will begin at the Australian National Field Days site at Borenore, with tractors leaving in two groups at 7.30am and 8am.
The tractors will snake along Borenore Road, turning right onto Cargo Road and right again into Bowan Park Road before heading to Cudal.
Trek director Graeme Eggleston said people travelling along Cargo Road on Thursday morning were reminded obey the speed limit and drive carefully if they saw the tractors.
“The trek will be escorted the whole way and they’ll have flashing lights so everyone can see them and slow down,” Mr Eggleston said.
“Everyone’s late for work, so there’s no need to speed. We ask drivers to slow down if they see flashing lights.”
The trek will travel to Forbes and Canowindra on Thursday and Friday, visiting small villages in between, and will make its way back to Borenore Train Station on Saturday, arriving around 12.30pm.
Orange resident Wal Harris will join the convoy in his Chinese Luzhong tractor for the second year, and is looking forward to spending time on the road.
Mr Harris remembers the moment when he resolved to participate in the trek last year when he was selling raffle tickets for Tractor Trek.
“There was this little boy, Oscar, and he had leukaemia. His mother and his sister came out of the supermarket and wanted to buy some raffle tickets. I walked around the table and knelt down and gave four-year-old Oscar one of the teddies we were selling,” Mr Harris said.
“It saddens me to see these little children who have a disease that shortens their life.”
