Receiving the grant as part of the school’s bid to upgrade its resource bounty, Mrs Winters says the funds, believed to be worth nearly $20,000, will provide students with opportunities to further their learning.
“It’s allowed us to upgrade and purchase a lot of readers and maths resources and things like that,” Mrs Winters said.
“We’re putting it into upgrading our resources, training and development for teachers, and a lot of one-on-one work with the kids.”
Mrs Winters said the school has purchased $20,000 worth of readers so far, with the possibility of more to come.
There’s also an online component students will be able to access.
The boost means Orange Anglican Grammar School students will achieve “better outcomes for everyone”.
“There’s a lot more stimulation within the books, there’s an online component as well we’ve purchased, so it gives them access to online readers and things like that,” she said.
“It’s a huge boost for our literacy section.”
The grant is aimed at funding books for grades kindergarten through to Year 2, however, Mrs Winters said all grades at the school will reap the rewards of this grant.
