Well have we got the goods or what!
The Girlannas went out on the field full of confidence although Eugowra were the favourites. The Girlannas showed what I have believed from the start that they are a winning team.
From the first touch of the ball we looked the better team, the Girlannas put all their skills on display and what a display it was. For those spectators there it was like a replay of the Grand Final we won against Eugowra in the first year of Rugby League Tag.
Spectators and the bench were on their feet and cheering for the girls to hold them out and that’s what they did. EXCELLENT defense and pressure throughout the whole game and our attack and ball playing were great. The last 3 minutes was exciting and scary to watch but the girls kept to the plan and held them out.
The girls defense was spot on there was a lot of great tags by all players but the standout tag was when Eugowra went over the line and were tagged just before grounding the ball. Also the ball being taken on the full was great even though as a spectatator it makes you hold your breath.
Girlannas were impressive with their composure on the field as Eugowra lost theirs.
League tag is not meant as a contact sport but watching this game you would think it was.
Special mention to Melinda Hewen, who was playing fantastic. Melinda was knocked out late in the first half.
Eugowra only scored through intercepts and that’s an easy fix for us (no more high floating passes).
Girlannas scoring in my opinion was from great passes, great running the ball & self belief.
