In a lead-up to tomorrow night, the Rams discarded their traditional colours of light and dark blue, and pulled on a specially-designed jersey in the Cancer Council’s sky blue and yellow in a charity match against Canowindra Rugby Union Club on May 17.
The jerseys worn in that match will be auctioned off at the ball starting at a reserve price of $100, and community relations co-ordinator for the council western region Tarah Syphers said money raised will go towards the vital work of the council.
“Discovering how we can better diagnose and treat cancer both locally and globally, provide information and support to those affected by cancer and continue to educate our communities on preventative methods,” Ms Syphers said.
The night will kick off from 6.30pm at the Blayney Community Centre, and co-ordinator of the event Bryce Toohey said he hoped the ball would bring the small community together for a common cause.
“The club decided to get involved this year as it is wonderful to be able to show support to those affected by cancer, raise funds for a charity and we get to have fun whilst doing it,” Mr Toohey said.
“The club is hoping to raise awareness of how men can lead healthier lives and take more interest in cancer issues,” he said.
Orange band Trouble With Johnny will provide entertainment, dinner will be provided and bar facilities are available. Tickets can be purchased from Blayney Pharmacy for $65 each.
