ROBIN Hood coach Cindy Gilchrist sounded a warning to the rest of the competition after the weekend’s Orange Toyota Cup double header.

“I think we’re bigger and stronger than last year. We’re better than last year,” she said.

The six-time defending champions secured two clinical wins over the weekend, defeating KWS 1sts 71-26 on Saturday before romping home against Hawks Ace Drilling, 82-21, on Sunday.

“I rotated the team around all weekend,” Gilchrist said.

“Everyone played everywhere, and it didn’t matter where we needed to bridge gaps, someone stood up and did it. Sinead Bradley was excellent again, she’s shooting in the mid-nineties percentage wise.

Shannen Downer was also one of Robin Hood’s best, Gilchrist said, before crediting her team’s opponents. Gilchrist said her team’s victories were not as easy as the two scorelines suggest.

“They’re both young teams,” she said.

“I don’t want to sound cocky, I just think we’re just too big and strong for a lot of teams, our court presence is much larger.

“KWS were much better than the result suggested, and the young Hawks girls did some incredible things on the court.”

The two wins keep Robin Hood atop the division one ladder, equal with High A. Both teams remain undefeated, two points clear of the third-placed Royal Hawks.

In Saturday’s other games, Life Studio defeated CYMS Gladiators 48-29, Life Studio DVM Embroidery were beaten by Royal Hawks 42-24 and High A overcame Hawks Ace Drilling 44-28.

On Sunday High A and Royal Hawks both completed their second wins of the weekend, the former over CYMS Gladiators 30-29, and the latter over KWS 1sts 40-23.

The Life Studio derby was postponed until Thursday night.
