On Saturday the theme continues with the Lions going head-to-head with current Blowes Clothing Cup leaders Cowra in round four of the competition.
Although the high-flying and undefeated Eagles are sure to pack a punch, the Lions outfit appears unshaken after a couple of close encounters.
Coach Mick Gray anticipates his side’s next game will be a good indicator of what to expect from the season to come.
“This week’s game will be a good test since the four top teams are playing each other,” he said.
“Following tomorrow’s games, we will all have a good idea of how our teams are travelling.”
Returning this week to the Lions is halfback Tom Nell, with the continued absence of premiership players Gus Brotherton and Nick Quinn expected to end next week.
“The plan for this week is mainly to achieve effective combinations with the players we have running on and working out where they best fit for the competition,” Gray explained.
He added there were certain aspects of the game his team must achieve this weekend in order to help ensure the contest goes in their favour.
“We’re specifically looking for the back row to do their jobs well in the rucks and breakdowns,” Gray said.
Coming off the back of three straight wins, Cowra Eagles will be standing tall with confidence when the teams meet this round.
Orange City and Cowra kick off 3.15pm at Pride Park.
