The Dolphins finished first  in the series, remaining undefeated all weekend until they met with the Mounties in the final game, losing 3-1. 

The Mounties outfit wound up in second place adding their glorious win against the first placed Dolphins to 12-1 and 10-2 victories over Tropics and Titans respectively. 

Other GRSA sides participating in the series included United, Tropics, Titans and Thurabredz, while the Scorpions and Demons sat out the round. 

Mounties Sydney player  Stephen Popko delivered a jaw-dropping performance throughout the tournament, slamming impressive home runs, landing balls in the next field. 

Dolphins pitcher Callum Beashel also had an excellent performance throughout the series. 

The contest played out over Saturday and Sunday was of a fantastic standard, bringing  former and current Australian and NSW state players together.

Orange District Softball Association president Geoff Kelly expressed his delight with the standard of competition as a whole.

“It was a really competitive tournament with a lot of talent which was great to see,” Kelly said.

“There were a few teams that had a lot of losses, however, were able to turn things around in the next day of the competition.” 

It was the first time visitors got a taste of current Orange facilities at the Jack Brabham diamonds. 

“We’re really anticipating council’s plans for the new amenities block as we’re hosting state championships in November and hope they will be well on the way by then,” Kelly added.

ODSA officials expressed a big -thanks to both Orange council staff and volunteers for helping to  organise  the the tournament.
