POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a stolen motorbike hit a police officer on Thursday in Orange.

About 10.50am on Thursday, officers from Canobolas Local Area Command were in Springfield Place when they saw an unregistered motorbike drive nearby.
An officer walked onto the roadway and attempted to stop the bike, which allegedly accelerated and struck the officer.
The motorcycle crashed and the officer was knocked to the ground, before the rider ran from the location into Davidson Place.
The officer was taken to Orange hospital for treatment to multiple abrasions and bruising. He has since been released.
Detectives are now investigating the incident and have discovered the motorbike was stolen from Spring Street.
The male rider was described as Caucasian appearance, about 16 years old and wearing a white baseball cap, white T-shirt and white shorts.
