And Courallie Park Child Development Centre, who organised the day, made it well worth their while.
With lessons learned from last year, the 25 market stalls were spread out across half of Cook Park, giving the 1,000 furry bears and their invited guests enough room to move around and take everything in their stride.
Courallie Park co-ordinator Karen McMullen said she was proud of the efforts staff and families of the centre had gone to to ensure the day was the biggest and best Teddy Bears Day Out.
"It's all for the community and to recognise [the children] as an important part of the community," she said.
The park was set up like a marketplace, with hundreds of people milling around each section and, with face painting, hair spraying and colouring in competitions for the kids and information stalls on multiple births and child care for the adults, there was enough to do for hours.
The child care centre hold the day every year to raise money for the centre to buy equipment, learning tools and toys, but the fundraising is a secondary purpose, Mrs McMullen said.
"It's a great way for parents to get out and meet other parents in the same period and time of life as they are in," she said.
"It's to celebrate early childhood education."
