POLICE are expect to charge a 13-year-old boy with malicious damage and intimidating a school staff member following an incident at Anson Street School at lunch time on Friday.
Canobolas Local Area Command duty officer Peter Atkins said police were called to the school after reports a boy was damaging Colorbond fences.
The school was placed into "lock down" and access to the school was closed until the issue was resolved a short time later.
Inspector Atkins confirmed the police viewed the incident as a "serious matter".
"The teachers and students at the school were in shock," he said.
A spokesperson for Department of Education and Communities confirmed "a student was having an episode related to his special needs".
