Regular starters Wayne Carpenter and Craig Stojanovic are both unavailable for the clash.
Adrian Priest will play as a replacement, while reserve James Conron will slot into the team as well.
Despite missing troops, Payne is confident extensive knowledge of the Wentworth course will give his team an advantage.
“We’ve definitely played Wenty a lot more than the Cowra guys have,” he said.
“That will definitely give a fair advantage over our opposition. I doubt they would have played too much at Wentworth.”
Duntryleague is coming off the bye, and Payne admitted to knowing little about Duntryleague’s opposition, who narrowly went down to Parkes last Sunday, 3-2.
“I know Rob McDonald has been playing again recently, he used to be a very handy golfer,” Payne said.
“Other than that I know very little about them. Right now, we’d take a 3-2 win in a heartbeat.
“If we had a full side we’d be very confident of a good win. We’re reasonably confident anyway. The guys coming in are more than capable.
“It’ll be good to see James perform well.”
Forbes play Parkes in the other division one pool B game, also at Wentworth.
Forbes accounted for Wentworth 4-1 in the opening round at Duntryleague.
Payne did hazard a prediction, saying he expects Parkes to emerge victorious.
“For the same reason I think we will,” Payne said.
“I would think the Parkes guys have played Wentworth a lot more than the Forbes players.”
As hosts, Wentworth has the bye.
In the division one pool A game, Mudgee will take on Bathurst at Wellington, while Dubbo and Wellington have the bye.
DUNTRYLEAGUE: Robert Payne, Rob Parfett, Adrian Priest, James Conron, Dean Turner.
