Baker trained Unencumbered, which won the Magic Millions Cup at the Gold Coast Turf Club in January and has two horses nominated for Towac Park’s TAB meeting next week.
Racing Orange executive officer Daniel Brincat said nominations from Baker, and several other metropolitan-based trainers were not a surprise anymore, but rather an expectation.
“We’ve had strong fields, and a lot of support from local and metro trainers recently,” he said.
“It’s great to see a trainer can win a million dollar race on the Gold Coast, and still have time to come out to Orange to race.”
The Tribute to Banjo Paterson meet received 101 nominations across seven races.
Race one, the Banjo Paterson Cup Benchmark 70 Handicap (1600m), and race seven, the Buffalo Country two-year-old Country Plate (1000m) have been extended until 11am today to encourage additional nominations.
Gates open at Towac Park at midday on Monday, with $10 entry.
Or, punters can pay $10 for a Racing Orange membership, which gives them entry to Monday’s meeting along with the upcoming Family Fun Day and Orange Cup meetings.
