THIS week is a double blow for Orange mum Michelle Howarth who is sending her eldest son Zachary to school and her second son Malachi to day-care, both for the first time.

Zachary can already read and write a few sentences and is looking forward to playing with all his friends he knew at pre-school when he walks in the doors at Bletchington Public School.
Mrs Howarth will hold back the tears as her son tears off to start the next phase of life.
“I think it’s just that it hits you that they’re growing up,” she said.
She said she was lucky Malachi was going to his first day on Wednesday because if they were going on the same day she said she would be a “wreck”.
Kindergarten children at public schools attended either Wednesday, Thursday or Friday for initial testing. They will start their first full week on Monday.
