Wiradjuri lays claim to huge swath of land in central west

A LARGE parcel of land may become the subject of a native title claim.

The "Wellington Valley Wiradjuri Native Title Claimants" have called a meeting in the town on January 24.

It seeks to draw all eligible claimants together for the purpose of authorising applicants under the amended Native Title Act 1996 to make a new native title determination application for the claim area on their behalf.

The claim area stretches from just below the city of Dubbo to almost the city of Bathurst, with Wellington and Mudgee sitting in its centre.

Registration for the meeting will begin at 9.30am at Wellington Senior Citizens Hall in Swift Street.
