Vandals paint the town blue

RESIDENTS of the Rowan Street and Coronation Drive area awoke yesterday morning to find hooligans had used spray paint on their cars, on driveways, a caravan, fences and letter boxes.

The shocked residents spent much of the day scrubbing off the blue paint sprayed on their property.

“This is very sad for our street because it is usually such a quiet place,” said Rowan Street resident John Brennan who had his double front garage doors vandalised.

Another resident who did not wish to be named said she’s not sure if she will be able to get the blue paint off her white Holden Commodore.

“I can’t drive it like this,” she said.

Mr Brennan said fines are nothing more than a “slap on the wrist.”

“I have to say the police have been terrific and if they find them I would like to see the courts make these people do 500 hours community service so they’ve got time to think about what they’ve done,” he said.

Inspector Peter Atkins of Orange Police said anyone who may have seen suspicious activity or people walking in the area around the time of the incidents is asked to call police on 6363 6399.

Other damage done in the area included the spraying of a skip bin, signage to the entrance of Duntryleague and give way signs.
