Baby Brock was the 1000th baby born at the hospital this year, passing last year’s total of 997.
Nurse unit manager Jenny Saw said with more than a week left in December, the record would be substantially broken in 2013.
“It really has been a very busy year for all of us,” she said.
Baby Brock was born at 5pm on Tuesday to Orange couple Josh and Candice, weighing in at 2466 grams.
“He’s absolutely perfect,” Mrs Ralston said.
“Everyone has been making such a fuss because he’s baby number 1000.”
During labour she wasn’t aware she could become a milestone mum.
“Another girl was in labour at the same time as me and apparently it was between the two of us as to who would have the 100th baby at the hospital,” Mrs Ralston said.
“I didn’t realise at the time. I was a little distracted, but my husband Josh knew.”
“It’s lovely, everyone has been congratulating us.”
The numbers of babies born in Orange is expected to grow in the future not only due to population growth but the decrease in delivery services offered at some smaller hospitals in the area.
