ORGANISERS of this year’s Carols by Candlelight could not have hoped for more perfect weather for the annual Christmas celebration on Saturday night.

Orange City Council project officer Cathy Thomas said the evening was a great success.
“We estimate we had about 1000 people there, judging by the number of glow sticks we sold and everyone was singing along and enjoying themselves,” she said.
The traditional collection for a local charity raised $2000.
The funds will be donated to the annual Christmas luncheon at the Orange Function Centre on Christmas Day.
Orange City Council director of community and cultural services Scott Maunder said council would continue to support the event as it was an important part of the city’s calendar.
“This is just a lovely community event which people look forward to every year,” he said.
