They competed in two Rowing New South Wales events.
The Saturday regatta, called the Reindeer Regatta, was a full course event with a range of both grade and age events over both 1000 and 2000 metres.
At the end of the day, competing mainly against club competitors, Kinross Wolaroi representatives won a total of 16 events, and had obtained eight second places and nine third places.
This far exceeded any previous performances at this regatta in past years and boded well for the Sunday event.
The Sunday regatta was the New South Wales Sprint championships with all events over 500 metres, where the Kinross Wolaroi team obtained their best overall results courtesy of an avalanche of 13 gold medals, four silver medals and six bronze medals.
At the conclusion of the day’s racing it was announced the Kinross Wolaroi School team had tied with the Mosman Rowing Club in the point score competition for the Kevin Webb OAM Cup for the regatta, the first school team to do so as the event is normally dominated by the large rowing clubs from Sydney.
The championship events won make a long list which included the men’s under 19s pair, the women’s under 16s single scull (by Kate Hall), the women’s under 19s pair, the men’s under 19s single scull (by Ben Watt), the men’s under 16s coxed quad scull, the women’s under 19s coxed quad scull, the men’s under 19s four, the women’s under 16s double scull, the women’s under 19s single scull (by Nicola Thomas), the men’s under 19s double scull, the men’s under 23s coxless four, the women’s under 16s coxed quad scull, and the women’s under 19s four.
All members of the team contributed to the medal tally in a most exciting day of competition.
The weekend provided an excellent finale to a very successful year of rowing for the Kinross Wolaroi program, laying the foundations for further success in the second half of the season in 2014.
