Helena McConochie’s Natures’ Masterpieces will open with a range of oil-on-canvas paintings.
“They’re large-scale flowers, slightly abstract looking,” she said.
Ms McConochie said her family home when she was a child had an amazing garden and she was now an avid gardener.
“I just enjoy painting flowers, I love gardens and I was just looking for what direction to take with my art,” she said.
Ms McConochie counts artists Tim Maguire and Georgia O’Keeffe among her inspirations for her flower paintings.
“Tim does large poppy paintings and they’re beautiful,” she said.
“Georgia did large very abstract flowers and was amazing.”
Following a one month exhibition at Duntryleague, Natures’ Masterpieces will then be shown at a gallery in Sydney’s Double Bay.
Tonight’s opening is from 6pm, entry is free.
The exhibition will remain open until Friday, December 20.
