The 49-year-old father of four was seriously injured last week when a concrete boom collapsed on him at a residential building site in Orange.
Since then, the thoughts and prayers of the community have been with Mr Flowers and his family.
Now there is a practical way people can help.
Jodie Dukes, who is close to the Flowers family and has been touched by their anguish and trauma, is organising a fundraising Flowers Family Trivia Night on Saturday, November 30, at the Ophir Tavern in Orange.
“Terry’s injuries are horrific and some doctors and surgeons describe them as some they have never seen before,” she said.
“He will be in Westmead Hospital for a while and even though surgeons say they are amazed Terry has survived the crush, they are still trying to figure out how best to fix him.”
Mrs Dukes said already many people had passed on their words of support and well wishes to the family.
“Terry is a fun-loving, loyal, ambitious man who loves nothing more than providing for and loving his family with all his heart,” she said.
“This is such a tragic situation, yet we know that he is getting the best care.”
Mrs Dukes said any donations of prizes for raffles to be held at the trivia night would be greatly appreciated by organisers.
“We hope to raise funds toward Terry’s recovery, which would help out with the family’s expenses in Sydney supporting and caring for Terry,”she said.
Mrs Dukes said anyone who was unable to attend the trivia night or donate prizes, but would like to help in some way, was welcome to to donate to the Flowers family fundraising account at Orange Credit Union (BSB number 802 129, account number 100079432).
Cost of entry to the Flowers Family Trivia Night is priced at $30 per person, which includes hot finger food. To reduce costs there will be no tickets issued, but names will be checked off on the night.
Drinks may be purchased at the bar and no BYO is permitted.
