Check out Jane Tonks’s new blog where she is keeping art lovers informed on her new artworks, photos and exciting things in the art world.
Mrs Tonks set up her new blog and website in part thanks to a $10,000 ArtStart grant she received in late 2012.
The funding for emerging artists allowed Mrs Tonks to split the grant between capital expenditure for her studio and promoting herself as an artist.
“It would be impossible to go ahead and spend $10,000 [of her own money] just like that,” she said.
With the one-year grant now finished Mrs Tonks said the blog and website were vital in helping to promote herself not just in Orange but the wider community.
“It is essential to have a vehicle to display my work year round rather than waiting for exhibitions,” she said.
“It’s really good to feel like you have some autonomy and control over promoting your artwork.”
Mrs Tonks said she was already amazed at how far news of her artworks and blog had spread.
“It’s really amazing how you can get heaps of people you don’t know,” she said.
