The nursing team from the ward is celebrating being named as the best nursing team in the Western NSW Local Health District (LHD).
Acting director of nursing and midwifery Linda Malone said nurses choose a challenging and demanding career.
“But it is also highly rewarding,” she said.
Although Ms Malone said it was difficult to decide a winner from the nominations across the region, the team from Orange impressed the panel of judges.
“We are very proud to have such a strong and dedicated nursing workforce across this health district and would like to take this opportunity to publicly acknowledge the incredible work that our nurses do on a daily basis,” she said.
Ms Malone said nurses are not only an integral part of the health system but their job goes beyond caring for a patient.
“They also provide support and advice to families and people in need,” she said.
The awards are held each year to mark International Nurses’ Day which shines the spotlight on the nursing profession.
However, Ms Malone said recognising nurses in the region, which is roughly the size of Germany is an opportunity to thank all the nurses who work for the Western NSW Local Health District not only in Orange which is the largest hospital in the region, but smaller hospitals that provide a vital service to the community.
