The total rainfall for Orange last month was 16.6mm, but we received only 13.4mm in April 2012.
However, the figures fall well below the April average rainfall of 58.6mm.
The highest recorded rainfall for the month was in 1954 when Orange had 183.7mm.
There is no rain forecast for the next few days, according to the Bureau of Meteorology.
The top temperature for April this year was a warm 23.3 degrees, but it dropped to a chilly minus 1.8 degrees overnight on April 25, which was the first time the temperature has dropped below zero since October.
Today’s top is predicted to be 16 degrees, with a minimum of 3 degrees, while on Friday the mercury will drop to minus 1 degree and climb to 18 degrees.
Temperatures will remain relatively consistent on Saturday, Sunday and Monday with minimums of 4 degrees and maximums from 17 to 19 degrees.
The outlook for the rest of winter is looking up for graziers and crop farmers, with a 75 per cent chance of at least 167mm in the next three months and a 25 per cent chance of at least 282mm.
The average seasonal rainfall for May, June and July is 205mm.
