My comments in relation to Riawena Oval were inaccurate and I regret that I have caused embarrassment to the Orange City Council and compromised the hard work of the Orange District Cricket Association executive, who tirelessly promote and support the game.
However I stand by the crux of the story about the need to address the whole matter of public toilets in this city, not just the issue confronting clubs paying considerable registration fees over the year to use council sporting grounds.
I play cricket for CYMS and have yet to play on a council ground this season where toilets (let alone change rooms) were open for use.
Consider not only the players but supporters, family members and often very young children also attending matches.

Yes, we have fast food restaurants, Cook Park and the Visitors Information Centre.
Plus, the more recent structure in McNamara Lane, which requires the services of a Sherpa guide to locate and four witche’s hats to reserve a car park for the duration of the ‘pit stop’.
Pitifully inadequate for a modern, thriving city of nearly 40,000 people attracting increasing tourism investment.
Sadly, in Monday’s edition, few councillors mentioned basic facilities when questioned over their priorities - like many in this local government area I’m over pipelines, pipedreams, vested interests and egos.
